Language Immersion Through Costa Rica
Each day of your Language Immersion Tour is built around a different theme that ties together daily language lessons, cultural activities and interactions with locals. Language lessons provide students with the cultural context and relevant vocabulary they’ll need to navigate each experiential activity. Through it all, your certified local Language Instructor and Tour Director will be with you, supporting your students’ language learning and highlighting each breakthrough moment.
Day 1: Fly to Costa Rica

Day 2: Guanacaste
Daily Theme: Community and Social Entrepreneurship
- Practice vocabulary related to Costa Rica’s sustainability and craftsmanship during a language lesson
- Explore a socially and environmentally sustainable project in Guanacaste
- Learn to make local crafts
- Reflect on today’s experiences in Spanish with your group
Day 3: Arenal Region
Daily Theme: Costa Rican Biodiversity
- Learn terms used to describe the country’s natural surroundings and wildlife during an interactive language lesson
- Travel to the Arenal Region
- Get a bird’s-eye view of the landscape on a zip-line canopy tour
Day 4: Arenal Region
Daily Theme: Environmental Sustainability and Ecotourism
- Learn how Costa Rica used ecotourism to develop its economy while protecting its biodiversity
- Explore an eco-lodge and learn about alternative energy, microorganisms and sustainable agriculture
- Volunteer for a few hours with the eco-lodge
- Reflect on today’s experiences in Spanish with your group
Day 5: Sarapiqui Region
Daily Theme: Daily Life in Costa Rica
- Learn and practice vocabulary related to youth culture and daily life in Costa Rica
- Practice your Spanish during an interactive scavenger hunt
- Discover the beat of Costa Rica during a salsa lesson
- Enjoy a homemade dinner with locals
Day 6: Sarapiqui Region
Daily Theme: Culinary Traditions
- Learn food-related terms and practice your conversational Spanish during an interactive language lesson
- Visit an organic farm where you’ll get the chance to harvest your own vegetables
- Learn to prepare local specialties in a cooking class using the vegetables you harvested
- Tour a chocolate farm and learn why Costa Rica is becoming a top exporter of this sweet treat
- Reflect on today’s experiences in Spanish with your group
Day 7: San José
Daily Theme: Costa Rican History
- Learn about Costa Rica’s early settlements and industry
- Travel to a coffee plantation and processing facility and learn about coffee production
- Participate in a team-building and leadership activity
- Transfer to San José, the country’s bustling capital and cultural center
- Reflect on your trip experiences during your last night in Costa Rica
Day 8: Depart for home

- Travel via Braulio Carrillo National Park
- Travel by boat to Tortuguero
- Enjoy time to explore Tortuguero Village
Day 9: Tortuguero
- Enjoy a boat tour through the Tortuguero canals
- Visit Tortuguero National Park—the most important Caribbean breeding ground for the green sea turtles

- Travel back to San José
