Trail of the Caribou 110th: Beaumont-Hamel to Paris
At Beaumont-Hamel, France, a great bronze caribou overlooks a deadly battleground where the Royal Newfoundland Regiment launched their offensive on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, July 1, 1916. At the base of the memorial, three bronze tablets carry the names of brave Newfoundlanders who gave their lives in the First World War. The spectacular memorials and cemeteries, including Menin Gate and Tyne Cot, are symbols of the sacrifices of our ancestors and the respect Europeans have for Canada. Participate in the 110th anniversary commemorative ceremonies at Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland memorial. Also, enjoy exploring Brussels and Paris.
